'A land immense, like wyoming, or the mitzpe ramon crater.these are the exquisite borderlands, filled with confusing vistas, where sometimes there are horses, where sometimes there are rockets, where steam seeps through the fissures, where always there are surprises. at the bottom of the crater, for instance, there is soup. at the volcano, one finds friendship, frenzy, serenity, festivities, and plans for future projects. these landscapes morph into the other planets of the mind, vaguely eerie and romantic, where there are landing strips for alien craft, green storms, prehistoric oceans, contraptions that fly, and ambiguous roads built for eccentric purposes. seeing this, this zone of intersections, it is likely that one will get the urge to dance (goofily) and to sing (lustily), but really sing - james brown, a country song, or, when one knows the words, the song about the city: lodz. otherwise, everything is mapped, analyzed from an aerial height, from where the hawk flies, perhaps, but far more likely from a satellite. still, all the maping only increases all the mystery, for this is an unsteadying place, always new and getting newer. here, the earth becomes another earth, the county sheds its name, each road is an appeal, all the usual hierarchies get scrambeled and undone. ecstatic geography, colorful nutrition. zone of arrivals, and then more arrivals. the process is the construction.'
